This article provides a detailed technical explanation of all the mechanisms that Philips OLED TVs include to prevent a remaining image (known as a "burn-in" image). You can watch the video below or continue to read the information in this article.

Screen recovery mechanisms
When the TV is switched off (standby mode) for approximately 30 minutes, its automated recovery mechanisms will be initiated in the background. If the TV is switched off by disconnecting it from the power supply, these mechanisms will not be started, resulting in deteriorating display performance, the more you use the TV.
Below you can read more about the different screen recovery mechanisms available on your Philips Android TV:
1. Pixel Shift
"Pixel shifting" moves the entire displayed content (including On-Screen Display or menu) by one pixel to the left/right or up/down up to 8px to reduce burn-in effects. The pixel shift will be executed once per 80 seconds of runtime.
2. Still Picture Detector
The contrast is gradually reduced to prevent burn-in when detecting a still image for over 1 minute.
3. Screensaver
When the TV displays a static image for more than two minutes, it will automatically start the screensaver (moving the PHILIPS logo) to ensure that static images are not shown over a long time. Press any button on the remote control to exit the screensaver. The screensaver will not start when an external device provides the static image or static user interface (UI) element (for example, paused playback via HDMI).
4. Manual clearing of the residual image
Manually starting the screen recovery mechanism may be helpful if the residual image is visible on the screen after displaying a static image for more than 20 minutes (for example, channel logo or full-screen picture) and the TV is still hours away from its automatically scheduled screen recovery.
To manually start the screen residual image recovery:
Press the "Home” button on the remote control of the TV.
Once the process is started, the TV will go into standby mode. Therefore, it is advised not to unplug it from the power socket nor attempt to use the device for approximately 1 hour to ensure the recovery is not interrupted.
Note: This feature was introduced via a software update. We advise installing the latest software version on the TV to ensure the best TV performance.
5. Recovery notification
If the TV is switched on for many hours (10 or more), then the recovery mechanism was not executed in standby mode. In this case, the TV will display a notification message advising to put the TV into standby mode.
It is recommended not to delay this operation. However, if the TV cannot be switched to standby at the moment, choosing the option [Later] will postpone the process until the TV is put on standby.
If this prompt is not dismissed by selecting "Later" within 2 minutes, the TV will automatically switch to standby mode and start the screen recovery process. Switching the TV on again is possible. However, this will interrupt the recovery mechanism, and the TV will show the notification message again.
